First Impression
It takes 39 milliseconds to form an opinion.
The brain does not analyze every detail; instead, it immediately draws on analogies and associative representations stored in its memory. — Prof. Moshe Bar, neuroscientist
First Impression (2010–2013) examines how associative representations shape our immediate impressions of people and images encountered for the first time, while also exploring the interaction between text and photography. The work presents fifteen portraits of people I met at random, alongside texts written by individuals who only saw the images. Although presented together, the photograph and the text remain two separate and independent entities of equal force.
